      I would take a group lesson first. Try to keep is small. Maybe three or four players. Anything beyond that, you probably will not get any attention from your instructor. Once you are able to advance the ball, You could go with individual lessons.

      I am a 5 HDCP and I have taken one group lesson in 8 years. There are a lot of publications out there that you can read that will teach you the golf swing. You just have to be patient and manage your expectations. It may be a while before you hit the 165yd 8-iron.
