There are 2 requisites to improving in anything. Lessons and practice. Lessons from a Teaching Pro will find and remove your swing flaws. Practice to ingrain those changes. Improvement of your swing will provide you with more distance because you will be making better contact.
It’s kind of hard to explain, but imagine that you are swinging the club… On the down stroke, the club speed is at it’s max. What you want to practice, is as the club swings down try to maintain the club’s speed by simply following through.
Most people think, “the harder I swing, the longer distance I will get”… WRONG! when you agressively hit the ball, you tend to “miss hit”, missing the “sweet spot” and topping the ball or slicing.
So, what you should try to do is follow through gradually. As you practice, you’ll swing faster & faster as you master maintanig a max club speed.
It may take a while, but it works! I learned this teqnique from a pro named Dick Mcchane.
Try it, you will be impressed!
Good Luck!
