golf swing
machman4 asked:

I golf on occasion (okay hardly ever), and my drives are okay (need to practice not looking up at the swing), but my wedge work needs, well, work. I constantly top the ball or blade it, so it goes nowhere. Go ahead and try to explain, I’m good at learning from text, but links are great to. I was told to scoop or chop instead of hit.
Having the same problem with my low irons and 3 iron-wood.

Sorry about comment appearing twice, my computer had a senior moment.

The ball to trap the ball most likely you are topping it also pick spot foot behind the ball.

Each golf swing produces a result which is unique to the individual . No two people swing alike. From your description your ball position at address may be the problem. Your driver is played more to the front of the stance and hit on the upswing. If you do that with the iron, you may top the ball. Therefore, play the ball back in your stance, try to hit the back of the ball in the lower third of its diameter so that it will crawl up the face of the club and sit when it hits the green. In other words you swing is hit the ball driving it into the turf which will make it go up the face and will impart spin.
